Myofunctional Therapy
Myofunctional Therapy Can Improve Your Child’s Health and Appearance
At Bee Happy Pediatric Dentistry, we believe that healthy breathing and functional muscle habits contribute to healthier, happier children. Myofunctional therapy addresses underlying issues such as mouth breathing and muscle dysfunction to support your child’s long-term dental and overall health. The healthiest children breathe through their noses—especially during sleep, which is essential for proper growth and development. Research has shown that children with sleep-disordered breathing are more likely to experience learning challenges and behavioral concerns, often linked to breathing patterns. By helping children establish nasal breathing and strengthening their tongue muscles, we can make a meaningful impact on their health and well-being. Many children today have developed habits like mouth breathing and tongue thrusting, which can interfere with the natural growth of their jaws. This may result in crowded teeth, narrow arches, and a misaligned bite. Early intervention with myofunctional therapy can restore proper nasal breathing and support healthy jaw development, often reducing the need for braces by creating space for teeth to erupt in alignment.
Healthy Habits for Natural Dental Alignment
At Bee Happy Pediatric Dentistry, we don’t believe that crooked teeth are simply inherited. Instead, we recognize that certain habits—such as mouth breathing, improper swallowing, and low tongue posture—can impact dental alignment. By addressing these habits early on, we can help your child achieve a healthier smile naturally.

Space Maintainers
Space maintainers are vital tools used to preserve the space left by a baby tooth that has fallen out prematurely due to decay or injury. Typically made from stainless steel, these fixed devices ensure that the surrounding teeth do not shift into the empty space. At Bee Happy Pediatric Dentistry, we carefully monitor your child's dental development. Once the permanent tooth begins to erupt, we will remove the space maintainer. If a space maintainer is not used, the surrounding teeth may drift into the gap, which can lead to crooked permanent teeth and potential difficulties with chewing. Ensuring the proper placement of space maintainers is essential for your child's long-term dental health.
Myobrace
This innovative treatment that addresses the underlying causes of crooked teeth without the need for braces. Myobrace is designed to be worn for just 1-2 hours a day and during sleep, making it a convenient option for children. This treatment is suitable for kids aged 5 to 15 and helps guide proper jaw and facial development. By correcting oral habits early, Myobrace allows your child to reach their full genetic potential, promoting healthier, straighter smiles as they grow.
The Benefits of Myobrace
Improved Jaw Development
Myobraces guide proper jaw growth and alignment, particularly in children, by encouraging correct tongue positioning and promoting nasal breathing. This can help reduce the need for future orthodontic treatments, such as braces or extractions.
Prevention of Malocclusion
Myobrace helps prevent common orthodontic issues such as crowding and underbites by correcting functional habits that contribute to these malocclusions. This early intervention reduces the severity of orthodontic problems later in life. Myobrace helps address malocclusion by targeting the underlying causes of improper oral development and guiding proper function of the muscles involved in breathing, swallowing, and tongue posture.
Help Develop an optimal physiologic airway and breathing pattern
By promoting nasal breathing instead of mouth breathing, Myobrace can help improve airway function. This can have long-term health benefits, including better sleep quality and reduced risk of conditions like sleep apnea.
